Turf Install

Artificial turf installation in San Diego. Built right the first time.

Most turf installs fail for the same two reasons: a thin base, or sloppy seams. We pull the existing soil down four inches, lay a graded class-II road base, compact in lifts, then install premium turf with hidden seams and the right infill weight for your use. Fifteen-year material warranty on installed product.

What do homeowners ask about Turf Install?

How much does artificial turf cost in San Diego?

Installed turf runs $11 to $18 per square foot for residential projects in San Diego. Cost depends on yard prep (existing material removal, grading, drainage), turf grade, and infill choice. A 500 sq ft backyard typically lands $5,500 to $9,000 installed. We give line-item quotes so you can see exactly what you're paying for.

How long does artificial turf last?

A premium turf with proper base prep should last 15 to 20 years in San Diego. UV exposure is the main wear factor — coastal installs last longer than full-sun inland yards. The base lasts indefinitely; if you ever replace the turf, the existing base typically still works.

Does artificial turf get hot in summer?

Yes — turf can run 30–50°F hotter than ambient air on full-sun days. We offer cool-blue infills like zeolite that help, and we can recommend lighter-color turf options or shade strategies. For pet areas in afternoon sun, plan a shade source or pick the coolest-running turf grade we stock.

Do you handle drainage on slopes?

Yes. Most San Diego yards drain well through a properly compacted base, but on slopes or clay-heavy soil we add a perforated drain line tied into the existing yard drainage. We document the drainage plan in the contract.

Will turf damage my soil?

No. The turf and base sit above the existing soil. If you ever want to return to live grass, the base can be removed in a day and the soil amended back. Most homeowners never go back.

Homeowners who hired us for this

Got quotes from three turf companies. Green Pro Turf was the only one who measured drainage on our slope and explained why the base spec mattered. Two summers in, no seam pull, no settling. Looks the same as install day.

Melissa R. Backyard Turf · Carlsbad

Two big dogs killed our lawn over and over. Switched to pet turf — drainage is real, the zeolite infill keeps the smell down, and we just hose it off weekly. Should have done this five years ago.

David K. Pet Turf · El Cajon

They built a 350 sq ft green with two cups and a fringe ring. Speed is right around stimp 10. My short game has actually improved. Crew was on time every day, cleanup was perfect.
